I used to walk around this place with a backpack, a laptop in search of an event to perform at. Much has changed, but not much has changed.
The luggage has changed, I have an idea of where I will rest my head but the spirit of my pursuit has not wavered.

As I first began my music career I heard SXSW was where an Artist should be if they wanted to be considered an Artist. So I went to SXSW.
While the festival and conference may serve as resource and value, they don’t determine who or what an Artist is. That’s the job of the Artist.
This year was great, I was in a film that required my attendance, it had it’s debut, we smiled, ate a wonderful meal and that was that. Again, much has changed but not much.
Maybe before I’d still be looking for the signs and confirmations of my significance, but today, not so much. I enjoyed the BBQ (KG BBQ is really special), the breakfasts, (Joanne’s, Fifth Street) and the dinners (Dai Dune !, Elizabeth Street Cafe)
I’ve got an album on the way and a house to build. I no longer have the time or need for a signs and confirmations. I think that alone is what an Artist desires most: Freedom from need. Permission to do as one is inspired to do. That is Art.
